About Grand County Arborist

Korey Lofy is Grand County’s only ISA Certified Arborist, and his roots go all the way back to Wisconsin.

In a nutshell, Korey sprouted up in the green industry working at a tree nursery. After high school, he branched out to the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, where he went out on a limb and triple-majored in Urban Forestry, Forest Recreation, and Interpersonal Communications. After college, he was stumped about where his career would take him, so he worked all over the country, logging tree experience as a ground tech, climber, bucket truck operator, residential consulting arborist, plant health care technician, and operations manager.

He’s the co-host of the Discovering Forestry podcast, was named ISA Rocky Mountain Chapter’s 2021 Arborist of the Year, and has never been bored a day in his life.

In 2019, Korey started Grand County Arborist, Inc. with a focus on saving the trees and landscapes of Granby, Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash, Grand Lake, and the rest of Grand County. He does that with an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan that’s tree-specific and holistic, a full investigation of the tree and property that accounts for tree location, water and nutrient issues, and proper insect and disease diagnosis.

Only once there’s a diagnosis does treatment begin. Because, as Korey puts it:

“Treatment without diagnosis is malpractice.“
